The #1 community for the game Doki Doki Literature Club.
Sayori appears to be a sweet girl that MC views as annoying sometimes. She is casual with you and you are already established as being childhood friends with her. She is the Vice President of the Doki Doki Literature Club in Act 1. She is frequently the glue that holds the club together, and recommends you join the club.
Her poems in the beginning convey simple and happy tones. She is a route in the game. As you progress in Act 1, you start to see her poems take on darker tones and themes.
Later in Act 1, she confesses to you that she has always been depressed, and that the MC has just never seen that side of her. The MC, in a jerk fashion, criticizes her for not sharing that and talks about it behind her back. It is after the fact he remembers her circumstances. When she reveals she has depression, they hug it out and the MC reassures her he will come with her to the festival. The second time you see her at home, you can either say to her to cheer her up 'You'll always be my dearest friend', or 'I love you.' Your choice won't matter though, as she still hangs herself because she believes no one should waste their effort on her.
By the MC wasting effort on her, and making the promise of going to the festival with her but not delivering she kills herself. After this, a disturbing image called 'Sayonara' pops up in your images. At the day of the festival, Monika hints towards how Sayori is when she says 'You know, the festival is today. You kinda left her hanging. ' This is because Monika strategically eliminated Sayori since MC and Sayori are childhood friends, and Monika wants MC.
After her death, in later acts, hints and remnants of her remain. In Act 4, when Monika restores everything except herself, Sayori is president. She proceeds to then reveal to you she knows what Monika has done, and that she wants you all to herself. Before she can, Monika then deletes her to save you, and then deletes the whole game when she realizes there's no happiness in Doki Doki Literature Club.
